Where She Begins 11 — Day 255
In Where She Begins 11, a woman’s figure seems to surface among overlapping colours, then slip back into them. Cream curves guide the eye through ochre and muted pink, while deep blue shapes give weight to the composition. Just as a rounded form begins to suggest the body, a crossing stroke interrupts its outline and sends the gaze elsewhere.
I like this movement between recognising a figure and simply looking at paint-like gestures. The smaller marks disturb the larger shapes, bringing a restless rhythm to their softer curves. The woman remains a presence within the composition, discovered through fragments that each viewer can connect differently.
