A Gentle Tangle 3

I returned to the previous creation wanting to take its gestures further. In A Gentle Tangle 3, long navy lines sweep across an ivory ground, crossing coral loops and ochre strokes. Broader patches of colour interrupt their paths, giving the eye somewhere to pause before another curve carries it away.

This was an attempt to strengthen the relationship between drawing, colour, and movement. A bend or a rounded contour can briefly suggest the body, then dissolve into the surrounding marks. I like following those uncertain connections. Returning to an idea gives me another opportunity to discover which gestures hold together and where a little more freedom might take them.
