Where She Begins 5 — Day 249

With Where She Begins 5, I wanted to explore how far I could push a woman’s shape into abstraction while keeping something of her presence. Dark contours suggest the turn of a torso, then break into sharp angles and wandering lines. Peach, ochre, and pale blue-grey gestures cross these boundaries, making the body appear to shift as the eye follows it.

A curve offers a moment of recognition before another mark interrupts it. Small red accents pull the gaze through the composition, between fragments that seem to belong together. What interests me is this threshold: the moment when anatomy becomes difficult to name, yet a bodily rhythm remains.
