Today’s poster is a bit special and doesn’t show Apollo. It is unique because I was inspired by a journey made by one of my friends, José Gsell, in Canada. José is a backpacker, not a five-star hotel tourist. He sleeps in the woods, hunts— maybe not — and tries his luck in the rivers and lacs; he gathers fruits, berries, and everything edible. José often hitchhikes to travel; he smokes, drinks, gets high, meets people, and does stuff. José leaves his life as he wants, and nobody will steal it!
The Design
Unfortunately, José is not a great photographer.
He also lost a camera card with high-resolution pictures inside.
What’s luck? He related his travels to “Quebecker’s Wandering,” available in French on Bandcamp.
I listened to his story and was inspired by his ability to describe what had happened to him. He seems to say almost everything that passes through his mind.
I thought I would create a wild design about nature and mix all the pictures he sent me. The only two photos I could use were taken at night and didn’t show any three or flowers. In the selected pictures, two silhouettes are walking on a wet sidewalk, a house or building’s structure, a car, and some city lights.
I used horizontal and vertical symmetry to create the poster by duplicating the photographs. They are too small to work with correctly, but this was the only way I found to enlarge them without losing quality. I copied and pasted some parts of the pictures and changed their Hue/Saturation with different settings. I added typography and played with the letters as I felt about my friend’s story.
Speed Art Poster #266
Wow, another busy day was spent on work and my poster design. When will I take a rest? I am wondering!
I am glad to introduce you to today’s speed art video inspired by José’s travel.
I am also glad to go to bed! I’ll see you tomorrow for Poster 267. Have a nice night!
