Static Geometry 5

by Severino Canepa | Jun 3, 2026

Vertical abstract expressionist artwork featuring sweeping black forms layered over grey, white, and muted blue brushstrokes, punctuated by vivid yellow accents that create contrast, movement, and structural tension.

Static Geometry 5 continues this ongoing exploration of structure, balance, and abstraction through intuitive mark-making. Broad black gestures cut across the composition, creating a framework that feels both solid and unstable. Layers of grey, white, and muted blue interact with two bright yellow accents, introducing moments of tension and visual energy.

The piece is built from overlapping brushstrokes that suggest movement without depicting any specific object. Dark forms emerge and dissolve into lighter passages, creating a rhythm between density and openness. The yellow marks act as focal points, guiding the eye through the composition while contrasting sharply with the surrounding neutral palette.

Created as part of my daily creative practice, this artwork embraces spontaneity and experimentation. Rather than pursuing representation, it investigates how color, contrast, and gesture can organize space and create a sense of structure within apparent disorder.
