Painted Queen

Digital painting of a Black woman seen from below with vivid brush strokes, titled Painted Queen.

Painted Queen is a digital painting based on the same reference photograph as Lined Queen, but interpreted with expressive brushes and graffiti energy. Seen from a low angle, the Black woman’s face fills the canvas, her lips and eyes glowing against a deep dark background.

Here I swapped the flat vector look for layered brush strokes, scribbles and hand-written words that scratch the surface like street art on a wall. Warm and cool tones collide, drip and blend, giving the skin a living, vibrating texture while the shadows remain graphic and strong. This piece explores identity, emotion and inner noise — a modern queen painted with light, color and chaos.
