This illustration is a contemporary reimagining of Apollo, the Greek god of light, art, and prophecy. Inspired by classical sculptures, I sought to deconstruct his divine perfection, introducing a fractured, almost surreal aesthetic that bridges antiquity and modern expression. The contrast of solid marble-like structures with dripping ink elements evokes a sense of both permanence and dissolution—an eternal figure caught between time and decay.
In my creative process, I focused on transforming Apollo’s idealized beauty into something more raw and expressive. The geometric segmentation of his face represents fragmentation—of identity, myth, and the way we perceive history through a modern lens. The hollow, glowing eyes strip away human emotion, turning him into an enigmatic oracle, gazing beyond time. The black tears flowing from his features symbolize both an unraveling and an awakening, as if the divine essence is escaping, morphing into something new.
This piece is a dialogue between past and present, questioning how classical ideals of beauty and power hold up in a contemporary world that is constantly shifting. It merges tradition with distortion, symmetry with imperfection, inviting the viewer to see beyond the marble—to witness the unseen stories within the cracks.
