By Hand Poster #362

A colder morning than usual and a sunny afternoon not so cold playing basketball — one hour thirty! I created a new style for this poster that I realized in an illustrative way. You didn’t see a lot of illustrations from me during this Poster Design Challenge.
So, I rectified the shot and drew Apollo’s head with my trackpad for your eyes’ pleasure.

The Design

Visual of the poster design number 362 By Hand

As previously stated, I realized this illustration with Photoshop and my trackpad. I drew lines over the picture of Apollo. I only followed Apollo’s shapes with a round brush around 30px. I followed the outline as well as an important area with this brush. Then, I used a brush size of around 15px to draw less critical lines, and I drew the last lines with a thinner brush.

It takes time, and the challenge was to be consistent and not overcharge the illustration with too many lines. The final result is convincing and pleasant—one more time, according to me!
The visual is pleasant and fresh. One of my defects, like many designers, is being a perfectionist with details. Today, I let my hand and eyes do the illustration without overthinking those details while drawing. That is why I let some lines not be closed. That brings something nice to the poster.
